Domaine de la Pépière "Château-Thébaud" Muscadet is an exquisite dry white wine, made from 100% Melon de Bourgogne grapes, carefully selected from the Château-Thébaud commune, one of the esteemed crus within the Muscadet-Sèvre-et-Maine appellation in the Loire Valley, France. This particular cuvée is celebrated for its aging potential and complexity, resulting from the extended lees aging that enhances its texture and depth. The "Château-Thébaud" represents the pinnacle of Domaine de la Pépière's craftsmanship, showcasing a commitment to organic farming and a meticulous approach to winemaking that brings out the unique mineral qualities of the terroir.

Producer

On the very border of Brittany, in the village of Maisdon-sur-Sèvre, there is the Domaine de la Pépière winery. Mark, who grew up in the village of La Pepierre, created the winery in 1984. The name La Pépierre comes from the French word "pépie" (thirst). Walking over the village, on the slopes where the grapes grow, it is easy to understand the origin of the name. Over the years of development, the winery "Domaine de la Pépière" acquired new sites, closely monitored the quality and age of the vines, as well as the originality of their terroirs.

Tasting notes

The “Château-Thébaud” Muscadet unfolds with a nuanced bouquet of citrus blossom, ripe pear, and an underlying mineral streak, reminiscent of the vineyard’s granitic soils. On the palate, it offers a rich, textured experience, balancing vibrant acidity with flavors of lemon, green apple, and a hint of salinity, leading to a long, refined finish that is both invigorating and complex. The fresh, creamy wines with green apple and iodine notes in the aroma are recommended to be consumed after a few years of ageing. A perfect partner for oysters.
