Producer

The wines of Henri Ehrhart are produced by a traditional family-run and wine-making company located in the heart of the Alsatian vineyards of Ammerschwihr. The reputation of this important wine-growing town is well-established. Henri took the helm of the family business in the 1970s and created the Henri Ehrhart winery as we now it today , but now working more as an ambassador, while his kids Cyrille and Sophia Ehrhart now run the day by day needs of the winery.

Pinot Gris, commonly used in mixtures with different varieties in other regions, is another of the region's noble varieties. Alsatian Grand Cru wines are only allowed to be made from these three varieties, but there is an exception for Muscat grapes, which can be grown under special conditions. The Vosges Mountains play a key role in determining the microclimate of the region; they not only provide protection from the prevailing westerly winds, but also create a natural natural barrier from rain, which helps to reduce the amount of precipitation in the region.
